DAQiFi Mobile Applications
The DAQiFi mobile applications for Android and iOS are companions for DAQiFi Nyquist data-acquisition hardware. They communicate only with your own device over your local network.
We do not collect, transmit, or store any personal information through the applications. There are no user accounts, no ads, and no advertising or analytics tracking. DAQiFi operates no server that the applications send your data to. The applications do send anonymous crash diagnostics to a third-party error-reporting provider so that we can find and fix defects; what those reports contain is described under Crash diagnostics below.
The applications request only the permissions their operating system requires in order to find DAQiFi hardware on your local network. Each is explained below.
Location permission (Android). Android requires an app to hold location permission before it may list nearby Wi-Fi networks. Where a DAQiFi application requests this permission, it is solely to find a DAQiFi device broadcasting its own Wi-Fi access point, so it can offer to connect you. Your location is never determined, recorded, transmitted, or shared, and no location data leaves your device.
Nearby devices permission (Android). Used solely to discover DAQiFi hardware on the local network.
Local network permission (iOS). iOS requires an app to obtain your permission before it may communicate with devices on your local network. A DAQiFi application uses this solely to find and connect to your DAQiFi hardware. No information about your network, or about other devices on it, is recorded, transmitted, or shared.
Measurement data. Readings streamed from your DAQiFi hardware are held on your device. If you save a recording it is written to your device storage, under your control. Recordings are never uploaded to DAQiFi.
Crash diagnostics. When an application encounters an error, it sends an anonymous report to our error-reporting provider, Sentry, so that we can find and fix defects. A report describes the failure: the error and where in the application it occurred, the version of the application, and the model and operating-system version of your phone or tablet. If a DAQiFi device was connected at the time, the report also records that device’s model, serial number, and firmware version. The applications also report anonymously that a session started and whether it ended normally or in a crash, so that we can tell how often crashes happen.
The applications are configured not to attach your name, email address, or IP address to these reports. The reports carry no measurement data and no saved recordings, they are not linked to your identity, and we use them only to diagnose and fix defects. Sentry processes them on our behalf and does not use them for advertising; Sentry’s own privacy policy is at sentry.io/privacy.
